I am hopping busy today (what Mother isn't), but I thought I would take a moment to reflect on the joy of simple things. In my world, simple things are what make life worth living, and bring a calm to the craziness.
Really good coupons for my favorite beverage. Just in time for the Memorial Day sales (and to replenish my "stash". I just happen to be down to my last box of Diet Coke).
Baking a batch of Chocolate Chip cookies in the quiet hour before the kids get home from school.
Have I mentioned that laundry blowing in the breeze makes me feel all giggly on the inside. Hanging laundry givea me a moment to get my thoughts in order.
I especially love aprons blowing in the breeze (well, just aprons in general). In my opinion, aprons are the universal symbol of "Domestic Fortitude"!!!
Blossoms on the strawberries. Soon there will be delicious red berries to eat!
Spring crops ready to be harvested. Here the rhubarb is ready to be made into cobbler, or jam.
Dear Bloggy Friends, what are some of your simple pleasures?
The flowering of the peas, the planting of the tomatoes, the stocking up for the ENTIRE summer in beverages, snacks and grillables with the Memorial day sales, the airing out of the camping gear...just loving summer being on its way!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on hanging the laundry! I LOVE to hang all kinds of laundry and see the different colors flapping in the wind...
ReplyDeleteThe wind blowing anywhere is wonderful, too. ---By the lake, in the trees, and across the porch.
And of course...warm chocolate chip cookies!
Glad you started this post! Have a great day!
Love this. I just got my first minute of peace...thanks to you.
ReplyDeletelove this post! always tickled to hear I'm not the only one out there having fun hanging laundry. something very timeless about the task! btw, you are torturing me with the cookies...may have to make some to have on hand for "cheat day." One of my favorite simple pleasures: to close my eyes and feel the cool water as I splash it on my face. is that weirder than loving to hang laundry? ;)
ReplyDeleteFun post, Tina! I love folding laundry because I get to have a movie marathon while I do it. I love to watch Pride and Prejudice or North and South (Elizabeth Gaskell, not John Jakes) while I sort socks. Bliss! You can use the lonely, unmated socks to dab at your eyes during the touching scenes! :)
ReplyDeleteI love piles of cloths freshly folded on my bed, the smell of warm bread in the oven, dating and rotating my pantry after a wonderful coupon shopping trip. But most of all I love nap time!
